Lean not unto your own understanding

Proverbs  3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

We are called to “trust in the Lord with all our hearts.” This requires us to surrender our anxieties and fears, placing our complete reliance on the wisdom and providence of God. Trusting in the Lord means acknowledging His sovereignty over our lives, believing that He holds the ultimate plan and purpose for each of us.

we are instructed to “lean not on our own understanding.” As human beings, we often pride ourselves on our intellect and reasoning abilities. However, the wisdom of this world pales in comparison to the divine wisdom of God.

Our understanding is limited and finite, whereas God’s understanding is infinite and all-encompassing. Therefore, leaning on our own understanding can lead us astray, clouding our judgment and steering us away from the path of righteousness. Instead, we are called to rely on God’s wisdom, trusting that His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts higher than our thoughts.

we are encouraged to “submit to Him in all our ways.” Submission requires humility and obedience, acknowledging God’s authority over every aspect of our lives.

It means aligning our will with His will, seeking His guidance and direction in all that we do. When we submit to God, we open ourselves up to His blessings and favor, allowing Him to lead us on the path of righteousness and fulfillment.

the promise is given that “He will make our paths straight.” When we trust in the Lord wholeheartedly, relinquishing control and surrendering to His will, He promises to guide us on a straight and righteous path.

Though the journey may be fraught with challenges and obstacles, God’s steadfast presence and guidance will lead us safely through. He will navigate us through the twists and turns of life, ensuring that we reach our destination according to His divine plan.

In conclusion, let us trust in the Lord with all our hearts, leaning not on our own understanding, submitting to Him in all our ways, and allowing Him to make our paths straight. May we walk in faith and obedience, confident in the knowledge that God is with us every step of the way.

God bless you.
