Those that trust In God

Psalms  125:1 They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.

Psalms  20:7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.  20:8 They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright.

When we put our trust in God, we are not just placing our faith in a higher power; we are anchoring ourselves to an eternal foundation. Unlike the shifting sands of worldly promises and vain assurances, God’s love and protection are unwavering.

Just as Mount Zion stands firm through the ages, so does the faith of those who rely on the Lord. This does not mean that we will never face challenges, but it does mean that amidst the storms of life, we have a stronghold that cannot be moved.

Psalm 20:7-8 gives a vivid contrast between those who place their trust in worldly powers and those who trust in God. “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.”

In ancient times, chariots and horses represented military might and human power. Today, they can be seen as metaphors for anything we might rely on besides God—wealth, status, technology, or human ingenuity. While these things have their place, they are ultimately fragile and fallible.

This teaches us that reliance on worldly things leads to downfall. The things of this world, no matter how strong or reliable they may seem, are temporary and can fail.

In contrast, those who trust in God will rise and stand firm, even when others fall. Trusting in God lifts us above the vulnerabilities of the material world and sets us on a path of spiritual resilience and victory.

When we trust in God, several transformative effects become evident in our lives:

1. Peace: Trusting in God brings a profound peace that surpasses human understanding. We can face life’s uncertainties with confidence, knowing that God is in control.

2. Strength: We gain strength to endure trials and tribulations. Our faith fortifies us, enabling us to stand firm in the face of adversity.

3. Guidance: Trusting in God opens our hearts to divine guidance. We become more attuned to the Holy Spirit’s leading, making decisions that align with God’s will.

4. Fellowship:  Our trust in God fosters a sense of unity and support within the body of Christ. Together, we can uplift and encourage one another, sharing in the strength that comes from our shared faith.

In conclusion, let us reaffirm our commitment to trust in the Lord. In a world that offers many alternatives to place our trust, let us choose the enduring and unshakable foundation of God. May we, like Mount Zion, stand firm and steadfast, rising above the trials of life with the strength and assurance that only faith in God can provide.
